I was so struck by the comments on a website recently about a visitor's 90 year old father in Florida. He has no relatives nearby, is almost completely isolated, and extremely lonely. The poster noted that her father needs to get involved with different people, and that volunteering is one of the best ways to do that. Problem being that he hasn't volunteered for anything in 30 years and has no idea how. My experience is that almost every organization is looking for volunteers, even nursing homes or CCRC's. Somebody can man a courtesy desk, greet newcomers, or work in the library. Anybody else have any good ideas?

Don't understand your question, you talk about grand pa live in Florida. He lives lonely and have no company. Try to convince him to live in supported living home where he can find many age fellows and other living facilities.
