My parents are like most of my friend's parents - they want to be part of the aging in place movement. The only time they will ever consider moving to an assisted living or CCRC facility is when they have a health crisis. Then they will make some steps, but as soon as the eldercare crisis is over, back home they want to stay.

I recently came across some great resources about aging in place. Ideas on how to make it work, for as long as possible. I recommend Community Partnerships for Older Adults. You have to register (free), but the resources are worth it. Also has great links to other aging in place resources. http://www.icohere.com/agingfriendlycop/index.htm

Interesting NY Times article discussing a sad but true fact - as the population ages so is the group that is often taking care of them. Will these caregivers have the strength to do what is needed? http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/25/us/25care.html

I think it's a nice place for elders and the seniors to live and grow old, as they have been provided with all of necessary and luxuries facilities at assisted living homes, which they really need at their stage of life. Which is some times really difficult to provide at their homes in a family.
